This job is responsible for and maintains high quality standards of unit operations by communicating patient information. Monitors a patients heart rates and rhythms and is responsible for communicating any ECG changes in a calm and clear manner to the appropriate department. Must be able to perform detailed reading of arrhythmias, maintain telemetry equipment, and have a comprehensive knowledge of the Telemetry Monitoring system. Will possess knowledge of hospital systems, procedures, department locations, treatment areas and patient services.Observes and accurately interprets cardiac rhythms on assigned group of patients. Reports deviations from normal rhythm to appropriate personnel; Charge Nurse, RN, and/or Physician. Major Duties: Meets organizational expectations as defined by the Employee Standards of Performance, hospital and department policies and procedures, and the hospital's strategic goals. Verbalizes a clear understanding of continuous quality improvement and customer satisfaction measures and actively participates in improvement initiatives. Observes and accurately interprets cardiac rhythms on assigned group of patients. Reports deviations from normal rhythm to the appropriate personnel; Charge Nurse, RN, and/or Physicians. Maintains an adequate amount of supplies for remote Telemetry units and monitors. Reports all equipment maintenance issues to the appropriate personnel; Charge Nurse, Clinical Director, Biomedical Technician. Floats to assigned unit(s)/departments as needed. Maintains a clean and organized work environment. Completes all mandatory and elective competencies and continuing education as required. Attends all unit meetings as scheduled. Documents and maintains patient records. Responds to internal/external disaster as directed. Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure smooth operation of the organization. Education/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Preferred: High School Diploma or G.E.D. One year monitor technician experience in acute care setting: Telemetry and/or ICU experience. Successful completion of EKG monitoring class. Required: Phone etiquette, interpersonal and critical thinking skills. BCLS
