Roles & Responsibilities:

The Chief Radiation Therapist perform technical and supervisory duties in the Radiation Therapy department, enforcing departmental rules and regulations and ensuring that department procedures and protocols are carried out. Collaborates with the Cancer Center Clinical Manager on hiring, orientation, supervises and evaluation of the radiation therapists. Develops and coordinates treatment and simulation schedules with physicians and other personnel. Performs radiation therapy using ionizing radiation in accordance with the prescription and instructions of the Radiation Oncologist. Conducts conventional and CT based simulations. Verifies accuracy of treatment set-ups, maintains treatment records and facilitates equipment operation and maintenance.

Qualifications

Licensure/Certification/Registration: Current licensure as required by state or national authority and/or certification or board eligible in Radiation Therapy by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology. Maintain ARRT certification in radiation therapy with a minimum of documented 12 hours of continuing education. Maintain CPR certification.

Education: Satisfactory completion of a Bachelor of Science degree in radiation therapy or graduate of AMA accredited school of Radiation Therapy, and satisfactory completion of a 24month course in radiology technology. Masters preferred.

Experience: Five (5) years radiation therapy experience in a supervisory role, and specific simulation experience, especially CT based simulation. Coding and Billing Experience required.

Special qualifications: Must be able to successfully complete established competencies for the position within designated probationary period. Familiarity with Varian Linear Accelerators, IGRT including CBCT and ExacTrac, Philips CT Simulator including 4DCT, computers and MS Office programs, HDR simulations, IMRT, VMAT, TBI, TSe, and portal imaging

Hours of work: Monday Friday, days and on call as required, other duties as assigned.
