St. Tammany Parish Hospital
Obtains blood specimens by venipuncture or capillary puncture from adult, pediatric and neonatal patients employing proper patient identification and infection control measures. Enters test requests into the laboratory computer system. Performs other support duties such as answering the phone, handling questions from medical/hospital staff, ordering supplies, and investigating discrepant patient orders. Complies with organization's C.A.R.E.S. standards.
Minimum Qualifications: Must hold a high school diploma or equivalent. Experience preferred, but will accept candidate requiring in-house training in phlebotomy. Excellent customer service skills.
Must possess good physical health. Some requirements include but are not limited to standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time. Lifting at least 50 pounds is required. Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise.
