Job Description

The Materials Management Tech I responsibilities are assigned on a routine basis and include but are not limited to: case carts building; cycle counting ofinventory; handling, distribution, receipt, storage and delivery of supplies; cleaning and distribution of equipment; daily stock put away; processing of mail, internal and external.



The position must be responsible for following the comprehensive supply and equipment management control program and adhere to prescribed standards and procedures within the medical facility.

Ability to accurately inventory and replenish Par locations, pick case carts within allocated timeframe.
Serves as First Responder for STAT patient needs.
Communicates to MM Tech II and MM Team Leader of any urgent requests.
Ability to Locate, Pick, Ship and Confirm supply orders on Oracle as assigned.
Perform additional tasks as assigned by Management.
Supports and participates in the continuous assessment and improvement of the quality of services.
Understands and complies with infection control, safety, OSHA procedures and regulations.
Identifies service performance improvement needs and communicates to MM Team Leader.
Maintains professional conduct; is polite and cordial to patients, visitors, co-workers, and other hospital staff.
Answers telephone and pages promptly; identifies self and represents department in a professional manner at all times.
Uses proper telephone etiquette by identifying department, self and How can I help you.
Pick up soiled equipment on units located in soiled room, cleans with approved disinfectant and seeks to identify any missing components.
Returns decontaminated equipment to clean staging area on unit and in MM equipment storage area using proper handling techniques.
Must round patient care units to collect and terminally clean equipment twice per shift.
Pulls supply orders accurately, then communicates to the nursing unit by phone that item/equipment is on dumbwaiter or Pyxis / Par Cart if applicable
Maintains Specialty Cart Stock replenishment and places charge card in charge bin.
Lost charge documentation must be given to MM Team Leader for follow up.
Receives, stocks and delivers supplies daily in Central Stores
Cleans shelves weekly in all work areas in order to maintain proper storage condition.
Attend departmental meetings and in-service education.
Demonstrates complete knowledge of infection control and universal precautions, actively supports and promotes strict adherence to the policies and procedures as outlined in the department manuals.
Ensures supplies are maintained and rotated according to established guidelines.
Provides notification to MM Team Leader of shelf stock outs.
Receives delivery of supply order, check-in, and performs receiving function on Oracle.
Knowledge and satisfactory performance of Mailroom processes and performs tasks as assigned.
Pull surgical case cart procedures accurately.
Receives all incoming and outgoing US mail.
Processes and sorts incoming mail into business and patient mail.
Sorts all business mail and collects all outgoing US mail.
Processes interdepartmental mail.
Required keeping up with department changes. (names/departments)
Does not abuse or take advantage of sick time or personal days off. Always provides proper notification and advance notice for absence or tardiness.
When requested is willing to adjust personal schedule n order to complete workload in view of increased patient activity, staffing reduction, or in preparation for special events or inspection.
Is available for additional duties within scope of training.

Basic contract knowledge and product procurement preferred.
Knowledge of medical terminology desired.
Knowledge of supply management, purchasing policies and practices helpful with two-year experience working in a Healthcare Environment required

Minimum Requirements

High School Diploma or G.E.D. required, Bachelors Degree in Business preferred.
Any combination of education, training and experience, which could produce the required knowledge and abilities, will be considered.

Various types of medical instruments & equipment

Medium Work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor constitutes a maximum lift of 21-50 pounds on occasion and/or a maximum lift of 11-25 pounds on a frequent basis
May be required to assist in the turning, lifting, or moving patients as well as walking about from patients rooms, as well as to and from various hospital areas
