DRUG INFORMATION SPECIALIST PHARMACIST

The Pharmacy Department is made up of separate inpatient and outpatient pharmacies that provide administrative, clinical, and distributive services to both hospital and clinic patients. Pharmaceutical Specialties include: Transplant, Cardiology, Geriatrics, Anticoagulation, Critical Care, Infectious Diseases, Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, and Oncology. Ochsner Ambulatory Pharmacy Services includes Anticoagulation Clinic, Digital Medicine, Population Management, and Pharmacy Patient Assistance.

Ochsner provides internship and externship programs for Pharmacy Students as well as (ASHP) accredited, PGY-1 and PGY-2, Residency Programs in: Pharmacy Practice, Internal Medicine, Solid Organ Transplant, and Health System Pharmacy Administration. Our clinical team provides training and development for Ochsners clinical staff, students, and residents

WHAT YOULL DO

The Drug Information Pharmacy Specialist assumes responsibility for the collection, organization, analysis, and dissemination of information on medication utilization. The Drug Information Pharmacy Specialist will integrate its activities with the clinical, safety, procurement, prescribing, and administration and distribution systems to optimize medication use within Ochsner Medical Center. The Drug Information Pharmacy Specialist assumes responsibility of compliance with regulatory agencies, best practices, patient quality, and pharmacoeconomics to guide practice.

The Drug Information Pharmacy Specialist is integrally involved in formulary management, medication policy compliance, and Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee initiatives.

Maintains formulary; Pharmacy representative for Pharmacy & Therapeutics (P&T) Committee

Evaluates pharmacoeconomic impact of pharmacy policy; Prepares Medication-Use policies and procedures

Assures continual regulatory compliance

Drug Information resource for clinical staff and providers

Participates in professional development and continuing education

WHAT WE SEEK

Graduate of an accredited School/College of Pharmacy

Minimum of one (1) year in Drug Information, Informatics or similar field OR completion of a PGY-2 Pharmacy Residency in a related field

Licensed to practice pharmacy in the State of Louisiana
