Medical Telemetry Stepdown Unit (Pre/Post Transplant)

The role of the Critical Care Step Down RN is to provide direct patient care effectively and efficiently to patients with varying medical and surgical diagnoses.
40 Bed Unit

Average Ratio 4:1
Pre and Post Operative Transplant Population
High Acuity Medical and Telemetry Patients

Insulin Drips, Vasopressor Monitoring, Frequent Acute Monitoring, Hemodynamic Stability

Our Registered Nurses (RN)s are considered leaders in the provision of patient care. Ochsner RNs are accountable for planning, implementing, evaluating and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients, including direct patient care, patient/family education and transitions of care. They also effectively delegate, direct and assist licensed and ancillary team members; assume accountability for quality patient outcomes; and exhibit sensitivity to diversity in all interactions. We are seeking candidates that possess strong skills in critical thinking, communication, mentoring, and are willing to participate in projects, committees, and quality improvement initiatives.


Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care

Monitor and recognize changes in patient condition

Collaborate with other disciplines to provide individualized patient care

Promotes patients' independence by establishing patient care goals and teaching patients and families to understand conditions, medications, and self-care skills.
