St. Elizabeth Hospital

The Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady, North American Province, have ministered in Louisiana since 1911. While having successfully operated hospitals for many years, in 1984, the sisters formed our Health System to ensure the perpetuation of their mission by its four sponsored facilities2, including St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Monroe, Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge, and Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette. At the turn of the century in the summer of 2000, the sisters added St. Elizabeth Hospital in Gonzales to the System family.

Drawing on the inspiration of St. Francis of Assisi, the sisters dedicate themselves and their hospitals to the healing ministry of Jesus Christ and to the service of those most in need. Recognizing the important connection of the System's facilities2, these institutions are united with each other and with the Health System through a single mission. This is both purposeful and deliberate, reinforcing a focused expression of the organizations' commitment to serve.
