Job Description
Provides basic nursing care to patients, assists nursing personnel and physicians in emergency care. Assists in maintenance of a safe and clean environment under the direction and supervision of the registered nurse in charge of the team and/or unit.
EDUCATIONAL AND/OR PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent; CPR required; First Responder, EMT - Basic certification or higher preferred.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATION, REGISTRATION, LICENSE: State of Louisiana Certification
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Experience required as needed to assigned unit.
SPECIAL SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge of procedures and techniques administering simple treatment and related bedside patient care services. Medical terminology; organizational and technical skills. Must have good communication skills; work well with others; document legibly; have positive attitude and be a team player. Must be able to work flexible shifts and schedules.
EQUIPMENT AND MATERIALS KNOWLEDGE: Medical equipment; computers and other office equipment; safety equipment as it relates to patient care.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to lift and turn patients using proper body mechanics. Must be able to walk and stand for long periods of time.
