The Regional Medical Center of Acadiana
Under general supervision, functions as a member of the sterile team, creating and maintaining a sterile field, supplying the surgeon with the needed instruments and supplies in accordance with the established Policies and Procedures of The Regional Medical Center of Acadiana. Assists in transportation and nursing care of surgical patients of all ages, as well as assisting with and assuming general departmental duties and responsibilities. Participates in Cardiovascular Continuous Quality Improvement.
A. Licensure/Certification/Registration: Certification required. Surgical Tech graduate is acceptable, pending certification. Certification must be gained within 6 months. Proof of acceptable military training may substitute for certification. Current CPR, Healthcare provider.Scrub Tech II: certification in Surgical Technology / functions as a specialist in one area / institutes P & P changes / runs the desk in theabsence of the Scheduling Coordinator / actively involved on hospital committees.Scrub Tech III: meets all of level II requirements / functions independently in all areas / precepts new employees and completes all therequired paperwork / provides one inservice to peers and one inservice to another unit yearly / functions as a specialist inone area as defined by the unit director. B. Education: High School Graduate or equivalent. Graduation from a school of Surgical Technology preferred.C. Experience: Minimum of one year Operating Room experience preferred.D. Special Qualifications: Good communication skills, both orally and written. Basic computer skills. Ability to work with others as a team to ensure quality patient care.
