Columbus Regional Hospital has been named one of the best hospitals in the nation in providing care that is effective, safe and patient centered.

CRH was named to Thomson Reuters' 100 Top Hospitals Award list for exceptional organization performance. The 100 Top Hospital award identifies the highest performing acute care hospitals in the nation. CRH is one of only six Indiana hospitals to make the list.

"We are extremely proud to be named a Top 100 Hospital in the nation," said Jim Bickel, Columbus Regional Hospital chief executive officer. "We are not content to be a typical hospital. We are committed to excellence and to our vision of becoming the best in the country at everything we do.  Our goal is to work as a team every day to ensure that each patient's experience is the best it can be."

The Thomson Reuters study benchmarks the industry's management and clinical outcomes to help hospital leaders assess organizational performance and effectiveness. According to Thomson Reuters, winners provide the highest quality care in the most efficient manner, maintain top financial stability, and elicit the highest patient perception of care.

To qualify, a hospital must be a short-term, acute care, nonfederal U.S. hospital treating a broad spectrum of patients.

Thomson Reuters analyzes public data sources to compare hospitals to similar organizations. Each year, Thomson Reuters studies 3,000 hospitals to compile its Top 100 list.

"This year's 100 Top Hospitals award winners have delivered exemplary results, despite volatility from healthcare reform," said Jean Chenoweth, senior vice president at Thomson Reuters. "The leadership teams at these organizations have dealt with enormous ambiguity, yet remained focused on mission and excellence across the hospital which drove national benchmarks to new highs."
